SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat on Monday visited Tangmarg and Gulmarg areas to take stock of the healthcare facilities in this widely visited tourist resort.
At Tangmarg, the minister inspected the functioning of Primary Health Centre, under construction building of Mother and Child Hospital and site for construction of Model Hospital. He directed the Chief Medical Officer, Baramulla and Block Medical Officer, Tangmarg to tone up the functioning of the health institutions which face huge rush of local patients and tourists visiting to this famous resort.
He directed for ensuring adequate supply of essential drugs in all the health institutions. He also directed for undertaking a special sanitation drive in and around the premises, wards and toilets.
At Gulmarg, the minister directed for a provision of portable oxygen cylinder at Khilanmarg and Gandola sites which are located at a high altitude to cater any emergency. He also directed for adequate provision of essential medicines and other related gadgets as per the requirements. He also interacted with the locals and tourists and enquired about the facilities available there. The minister also discussed the overall health scenario and availability of doctors, para-medics, medicines, diagnostic equipments and other infrastructural facilities in the Baramulla district with the Chief Medical Officer. He directed the CMO to conduct frequent touring in the field to personally take stock of the activities on ground and making the field staff accountable.
The CMO briefed the Minister about the health services in the district and highlighted the paucity of staff and other allied issues related to the functioning of institutions.
