Bali reviews arrangements for Yoga Day celebrations

JAMMU: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat on Monday reviewed the arrangements for celebrations of International Yoga Day to be celebrated across the State on (Tuesday), 21st of June, 2016. He obtained detailed feedback from the concerned officers and directed for putting in place all necessary facilities at the main venue of the event Maulana Azad Stadium to accommodate thousands of Yoga lovers.
The minister appealed the people from all walks of life to enthusiastically participate in the event to be celebrated at different parts of the State to make this ancient and auspicious day a grand success and become partner of the historic moments. He said Yoga belongs to every human being, irrespective of caste, creed and color, and thus all should practice this on daily basis to lead disease-free and blissful life.
Interacting with the media persons, Mr. Bali said that the International Yoga Day will be celebrated across the State like other parts of the globe with lot of enthusiasm. All arrangements have been finalized to accommodate the expected huge gathering for this annual event. Main functions would be held at Maulana Azad Stadium at Jammu and Bakshi Stadium at Srinagar from 7 am to 8 am, besides other parts of the State. A large number of social/religious organizations, NGOs and educational institutions and volunteers are working tirelessly for the past couple of months to make this event a grand success. He said, Yoga being originated from India and later spread to rest of the world in view of its multiple health benefits and duly acclaimed by the International Community with the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The world community gave recognition to this ancient art of living two years ago and declared 21st June as International Yoga Day, which is a matter of pride for every countryman, said the Minister.
Director General of Indian System of Medicines (AYUSH), Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Yoga expert and former HoD Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Dr. T.R. Raina besides others from the profession were present on the occasion.
Later, the Minister also paid visit to Super Specialty Hospital to take stock of the facilities there. He inspected the under-construction multi-storey parking lot, Cath Lab and other important units of the institution. He issued directions to the hospital management to formulate a DPR for construction of Emergency Block to start with the emergency services in the hospital. He also inspected the newly fabricated Cabins for the attendants at the earmarked slots in the hospital.
Principal GMC, Dr. Zaheed Geelani and Medical Superintendent, SSH, Dr. Romesh Gupta were also present on the occasion.
