Bail denied to bike-lifter

STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: CJM Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh rejected bail application of an accused, a member of bike-lifter gang, who was arrested by Gandhi Nagar Police besides recovering 20 stolen bikes from his possession.
CJM Jammu Amarjeet Singh, while rejecting bail application, observed that investigation carried out in case till now un-ravels a deeply disturbing trend, in that, five young boys including petitioner have allegedly adopted crime of lifting vehicles as a profession. “15 stolen Scooties have been recovered in the case till date ipso-facto speaks volumes about the magnitude of the crime in question and height of criminal proclivity and that too with impunity, of the accused including petitioner. Not only this, one of the co-accused in case namely Nikhil Dogra is also required by Police Station Bahu Fort in FIR no 144/2022 for offence under section 379 of IPC. The antecedents of petitioner and other co-accused involved in the FIR in question are under the lens of investigation as on date. On face of it therefore, for five individuals to run a virtual racket of stealing Scooties parse has a chilling impact on faith of peace loving public on the majesty of law and its efficacy. This feature that has come to fore during investigation thus cannot be over-looked while considering the bail application in hand,” the Court observed and denied the bail plea.
