JAMMU: Second Additional Sessions Judge Jammu M.K Sharma rejected the bail application of one Labha Ram who was facing trial in dowry death case.
According to the case that the accused has been sent to trial by the Police Station Khour where a case under FIR No 24/2014 for the commission of offences under section 306/498-A RPC with the allegations that the deceased Ranu Choudhary who was married to the accused Labha Ram in September, 2012 and ever since the marriage, the accused along with co-accused Shilo Devi, mother-in-law and Suman Devi, sister-in-law of the deceased used to harass the deceased for want of dowry and this persistent torture of the deceased in the hands of the accused forced the deceased to commit suicide and after investigation police presented challan against accused Labha Ram, Shilo Devi and Suman Devi in the Court of law.
Second Additional Sessions Judge Jammu M.K Sharma after hearing Additional Public Prosecutor K.A Qazi for the state observed that the evidence against the accused is fiendish in nature and the offences against the women are on rise and concession of bail to the perpetrators of such like crimes will shake the confidence of the general public and in the present case a young bride of 25 years who was yet to see many springs of her life has lost her life and the case is at initial stage and evidence is yet to be recorded. With these observations Court rejected the bail application of the husband of the deceased. JNF
