Badal forced industries to flee Punjab, says Amarinder

Faridkot:- Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today lashed out at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal saying he forced industries to “flee Punjab”, and has left the state “grappling with near-bankruptcy and a host of other critical problems”.

Amarinder promised to being sweeping policy changes to revive “sick industries” in Punjab, if Congress is voted to power in 2017 state assembly polls.

He also reiterated his commitment to do everything in his power to end the sufferings of the farmers in the state.

He begun the second day of his Kisan Yatra today with a visit to a closed sugar mill in Faridkot.

The Amritsar MP said once in power he would take immediate steps to incentivise the industries in the state in line with the concessions being provided to attract industries in other states like Gujarat.

“Industries in Punjab had been forced to flee the state as a result of the unfriendly Badal government policies, which were in complete contrast to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-hyped ‘Make in India’ campaign,” he said.

He also attacked the Centre for its alleged double standard, which had led to a total breakdown of the industrial sector in Punjab.

It was unfortunate, he said, that nobody was prepared to ‘Make in Punjab’ even while the rest of the country was talking of the Modi government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.

Accusing the Badal government of reversing Punjab s industrial growth and causing several industrial units to close down for lack of government support, he said he would ensure that the trend is reversed.

He minced no words in blaming “the corrupt Badal government for its regressive policies, which had pushed the state to the brink of bankruptcy”.

Neither the farming community nor the industries were happy under the Badal regime, he claimed.

Taking his Kisan Yatra roadshow to the doorsteps of the people of Faridkot, the former Chief Minister said he was pained at hearing about the problems faced by the farmers in the region.

Amarinder met the widows of farmers in Faridkot.
