‘Take stock of situation & restoration works”
Jammu: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood
Control, Sham Lal Sharma chaired a high level meeting of officers and engineers of various wings of PHE Irrigation, Flood Control, PDD, PWD (R&B) and CAPD departments here today and reviewed the progress of restoration works as well as to take appraisal of the flood affected areas and monitoring rescue and relief operations to the affected families.
The Minister gave direction to the local administration to assess the losses of lives, cattles, R&B, PHE sector, Houses, agriculture land and standing paddy crops in the area and submit the report to the concerned quarter well in times. He also asked the CAPD department
to provide food and other essential services to the affected families who have been compared in shelter houses.
The Minister directed the SDM and Tehsildar Akhnoor and Chowki Chora to remain vigilant and stressed them to be at the beck and call of the people whenever required so that they do not face any kind of inconvenience at this movement of trouble. He further stressed to place more manpower into service of the people to meet the challenge thrown by incessant rains and flash flood. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure essential services like power,
water supply and repair the all damaged roads.
The meeting was informed that in Akhnoor block 250 kachha and pacca houses have been collapsed and 369 animals in various categories died in the area.
