KATHUA: A district level awareness programme on Self Help Groups (SGHs) was conducted here on Wednesday by National Bank For Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to sensitise bankers on role and formation Self Help Group.
The main participants in the meeting from Kathua district were Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Hans Raj Hans, LDM, Vijay Padha, Director, SBI-RSETI, R.K Kalsotra, LBO, O.P Sharma, District Manager, JCCB, Dalip Singh, Cluster Office, J and K Bank, Ravinder Kacchru, Sr. Mrg., JKGB, Jaffar Abbas, Project Officer, DUDA, Dr. Amrish Vaid, Project Coordinator, KVK, Kathua, managers of different banks, NGO representatives and SHG members.
Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Kathua explained the role of group leaders, concept and book-keeping of SHGs, activities undertaken by the SHGs, etc. The duties and responsibilities of President / Secretary, internal lending within SHG and relationship with banks were explained in detail.
Hans Raj Hans, Lead District Manager, J and KGB interacted with the bankers. He informed the role of bank in saving and credit linkage of SHGs. He asked them to be sensitive towards the members of SHGs as they come with great expectations to banks and by credit linking them we are actually, developing rural India.
R K Kalsotra, LBO, emphasised on the need of social banking. He insisted that by helping weaker section in general and women in particular, we are developing weaker segment of our society, wherein lot of work needs to be done. Formation and linkage of SHGs is a step in the right direction.
Vijay Padha assured all type of training support on behalf of SBI-RSETI to SHG members and other rural entrepreneurs. He assured that SBI will finance all SHG members who want to take up economic activity and are in need of loan.
Dr. Amrish Vaid, Project Coordinator, KVK, Kathua informed the role of the KVK in imparting training to SHGs.
O.P Sharma District Manager, JCCB emphasised on formation and linkage of SHG and JLGs. He assured of all cooperation on behalf of JCCB bank in financing of SHGs/ JLGs.
Jaffer Azad, Project Officer, DUDA also spoke on the occasion.
R K Kalsotra, LBO and Vijay Padha, Director, SBI-RSETI, who are retiring in December 2014, were also felicitated on the occasion.
