AKHNOOR: Fisheries Department in collaboration with NFDB team of SKUAST-Kashmir, organised an awareness programme on fish diseases here at Pargwal on Sunday.
About 40 progressive fish farmers of adjoining villages attended the awareness programme and were apprised about fish diseases and their control.
Assistant Director Fisheries, Jammu, Lal Hussain gave brief introduction about composite fish culture, latest techniques adopted for fish culture, management of fish pond, fish diseases, their control and importance of programme.
Head Division of Fish Pathology and team leader Dr. Feroz Ahmed Shah presented a detailed and elaborate lecture on the theme of the programme. Dr. Shah highlighted the importance of fish health management at fish pond.
Dr. Iqbal Mir gave practical demonstration about preliminary identification of fish diseases, collection and preservation of fish samples and remedial measures.
The State Fisheries Officers namely Romesh Kumar Moza, Kuldeep Raj and Bachan Lal were also present.
