Awareness camp on commercial floriculture held at Samba

SAMBA: As a part of Government initiative for Jan Abhiyan ahead of B2V4 programme, Director General, Floriculture, Parks & Gardens, Jammu Jatinder Singh on Tuesday visited Block Rajpura, Village Sarthi Kalan in District Samba to attend training/awareness camp of progressive farmers on commercial floriculture. A total of 45 progressive farmers attended the training/awareness camp along with female farmers having interest in floricultural activities.
Addressing the farmers, the Director General highlighted different schemes of commercial floriculture being implemented by the Department besides elaborating on the directions of the Government to observe Jan Abhiyan w.e.f. 15th-26th Oct. 2022 as a period of carrying out activities focused on achieving specific deliverables assigned to each Department. Under Jan Abhiyan 1000 farmers have to be imparted awareness in 10 Districts of Jammu Province by the Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Department Jammu, he said. While interacting with progressive growers, the District Officer Floriculture explained to them different Centrally Sponsored Schemes related to floriculture sector tailored to increase farmers’ income. He emphasized on protected cultivation of high value flower corps and cultivation of medicinal plants. Director General along with DDC Member, Asha Rani and Atul Sharma, District Officer, felicitated progressive farmer Parshotam Singh for boosting commercial floriculture activity.
