JAMMU: NGO Avaam Ki Avaaz on Sunday sought probe into the discrepancies in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) by showing undue inclination towards private players affecting the services badly.
Avaam Ki Avaaz President and veteran socialist Inder Mohinder Tar Singh flanked by Satpal Saini and Lakhbir Singh addressing the media persons demanded CBI probe into the discrepancies in the BSNL wherein the government exchequer is being wasted by favouritism shown towards the private companies and revengeful attitude towards the Direct Selling Agents (DSAs) Franchisees.
Tar Singh alleged that certain section of BSNL employees is working in a way as if BSNL department is owned by them and they are answerable to none. He further accused that BSNL is denying reply to scores of RTIs filed for seeking information.
Citing various irregularities in the functioning of BSNL including non publishing of tenders and giving edge to a particular firm in providing works, selling of 700 SIM cards in a single day, huge outstanding of various DSA franchisees lying towards the BSNL whereas selected DSAs belonging to families of BSNL employees getting their commission on time and overpricing of SIMs offered to Amarnath Yatris, Tar Singh demanded enquiry and strict action against the erring officials. Sat Paul Saini, Lakhbir Singh and Hussain Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
