ATM Cash Embezzlement Case: SCW Jammu files charge sheet

JAMMU: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) Jammu, on Wednesday produced a chargesheet before the Court of the City Judge, Jammu, in connection with FIR No. 15/2016 under Sections 409 and 201 RPC, originally registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar.
The case pertains to the misappropriation of Rs 9,10,400, detected during a surprise audit, an official said adding that one Vinod Kumar, deputed for ATM cash loading duties, was found to have misused his official position to embezzle the funds.
Initial investigation was conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted under the supervision of Addl. SP Rural Jammu, official said adding that the case was later transferred to the Crime Branch Jammu and eventually taken up by the Special Crime Wing.
Inspector Ashok Bazaz, Investigating Officer of SCW Jammu, under the supervision of SSP SCW Jammu Sanjay Parihar, pursued the investigation thoroughly by seizing crucial documents including the accused’s appointment records, transaction trail, and recording statements of witnesses and bank staff. On the basis of documentary and oral evidence, the offences under Sections 409 and 201 RPC stand fully established against Vinod Kumar, son of Sham Lal, who had been entrusted with the cash meant for depositing in the HDFC ATM, Sarwal, official said adding that the IO finally framed the Chargesheet and presented today before the court of law.
Pertinently, official said, three similar cases involving the accused were earlier registered at Police Stations Janipur, Domana, and Akhnoor, and have already been investigated by SCW Jammu and charge sheets produced before the court of law.
