Ask security forces to exercise restraint: Vakil to CM

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Condemning the unabated killings in Kupwara, former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Sunday stressed upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to issue stringent instructions to security forces to exhibit utmost restraint and patience while dealing with law and order situation.
“State was passing through a critical phase and it is the duty of both the Central and the State Government to take drastic measures to curb human rights violations, which is must for restoring confidence of commoners in the rule of law,” he said.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti shouldn’t forget what she was demanding in past when she was out of power when there were killings happening in the Valley but now when the command is in her hands what steps she is taking should come to the fore or was it just a election slogan to take action against those who are responsible for innocent killings, Vakil added.
“Refusing” to draw lessons from previous such experiences, Vakil warned, “each death” is bound to further inflame the situation and sought an “immediate end” to the recklessness in the region. He said government has only one remedy to all these incidents to impose curfew which is not a permanent solution even they forget that imposing curfew is making whole State in a vulnerable position because people are not then allowed to go to hospitals, local business is getting effected, educational institutions are closed which is affecting the youth of the State immensely.
Vakil also lambasted the Central Government for their approach towards the State. He said since Narendra Modi has become the Prime Minister educational institutions have come under attack whether it is Hyderabad, JNU, and now NIT in Kashmir which is clearly showing that they want intellectual bankruptcy in the whole country which is dangerous for the country.
