Asiya reviews under construction Rangil Irrigation Canal

SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Ms Asiya Naqash today visited various areas in Ganderbal district including Rangil. She also took stock of the repairs and renovation works of Rangil Irrigation Canal which was damaged in recent landslides. The Minister also inspected Rangil Water Supply Scheme and directed the concerned to ensure better up keep of the scheme.

Accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Kashmir, Superintendent Engineer, Hydraulic and other officers of Revenue, PHE, I & FC departments, the minister directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work on the repairs and renovation of Rangil Irrigation Canal and complete the same within 15 days.

She was informed that the department has taken steps to renovate and restore the Rangil Irrigation Canal which was damaged in recent landslides.

Enroute, several deputations met the minister and apprised him about their individual and collective problems. These included construction of bunds, link roads, replacement of damaged poles and transformers. The minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into.

Interacting with the people at different places, the minister said that the coalition Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide better basic amenities to the people.

The minister said that several Centrally Sponsored and State Sector Schemes have been launched in the State with the aim to improve the living standard of the people.
