Ashura procession taken out in Jammu

JAMMU: To commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, thousands of mourners from Shia section of Muslims on Wednesday joined the procession of Ashura which was taken out here today.
The mourners wearing black dress were wailing and beating their chests in memory of Imam Hussain who attained martyrdom in the battle of Karbala along with his 72 companions for uplift of truth and human values.
Reciting Nohas and Marsiah, the mourners passing through the traditional route i.e Lakhdatta Bazaar, Rajinder Bazaar, Shaheedi Chowk, Wazarat Road culminated their procession at Karbala Complex where Majlis Sham-e-Ghariban was delivered by Moulana Syed Mohammad Abbass Rizvi, an Iranian scholar.
A procession was also taken out from New Plots by Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plot that culminated and merged with the main procession at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.
A blood donation camp was also organised by Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu in collaboration with All Ladakh Muslim Student Association Jammu to pay tributes to Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions who sacrificed themselves for the sake of Islam.
Addressing media, President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu Syed Amanat Ali Shah said that Anjuman is doing this pious duty of organising Azadari in Jammu since long.
“We should learn the lesson from the teachings of Islam through Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala,” he said adding Battle of Karbala is a struggle of truth against false hood, the battle against injustice and cruelty, the battle against the tyranny of Yazeed the ruler of that time.
Prof. Sujat Ali Khan, Secretary Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu stressed that it is our duty to spread the message of Islam that has been gifted upon us by our beloved Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SAW). He added Ashura gives a message to entire humanity that whenever truth or righteousness is being suppressed and evil or false hood is promoted, we should never forego our responsibilities even though we need to sacrifice our self for the cause. He also extended thanks to Muslim Federation, Jammu Muslim Front, Rajinder Bazaar Association, Lakhdatta Bazaar, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Dharmarth Trust and to all the prominent citizens for extending their full cooperation and support during the procession by installing different stalls as refreshment for the mourners. He also extended thanks to Anjuman-e-Hiadery New Plots, Anjumna-e-Hussaini Bathindi, All Ladakh Muslim Students Association Jammu (ALMSAJ), Volunteers of Shaheed Muttahiri Library New Plots and people from Poonch, Rajouri, Chanderkot, Kashmir, Ladakh and Kargil for showing exemplary discipline during the procession. Special thanks to media and different departments of administration were extended for facilities that were provided during the days of Muharram.
Muharram concluded with prayer/Dua for peace, tranquility, harmony and a sense of brotherhood in the world and especially in our country and State.
President Jammu West Assembly Movement, Sunil Dimple along with people of the area and Muslim community joined the procession.
Dimple paid tributes to the sacrifices of Imam Husain for the brotherhood, peace and communal harmony.
Thousands across Kargil District observed martyrdom of Imam Hussain A.S the grandson of the Prophet of Islam. Meanwhile more than 30,000 people gathered in Kargil town from adjacent village to mark Ashura .
The mourners were beating chests reciting lamentation while marching towards Main Bazaar Kargil. These processions were organised by Imam Khoemini Memorial Trust (IKMT) and Islamia School Kargil (ISK).
Speaking to the gathering at Ashura congregation, Chairman IKMT Shiekh Hussain Lufti comdened the recent attack in Yemen and attack on Shia Muslims in Kabul city in Afghanistan. Shiekh Hussain Lufti also highlighted the ongoing crisis between the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the government and appealed to immediate release of the shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky .
In Kargil people gather in Masjids and Imam Bargahas every year to mark the ten days of Muharram in the memory of their beloved Imam Hussein A.S who was martyred by the forces of Yazid, in the battlefield of Karbala, Iraq (680 AD).
Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali also paid tributes to the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala. In his message, Haji Anayat Ali said Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions symbolise the firm faith in the Almighty Allah, purity of thought and greatest degree of sacrifice to uphold truth and human dignity.
“The unparalleled courage, sacrifice and patience exhibited by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions at Karbala was beacon of light for Muslims and would continue to enlighten and guide the whole of mankind forever,” he added.
He prayed for peace, harmony and normalcy in the State.
