JAMMU: Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers on Saturday held protest under the banner of CITU against the non-serious attitude of State Government towards their demands.
A large number of ASHA workers from all districts of Jammu region assembled at Grean Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, here and marched towards the Office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu amidst slogans in support of their pending demands.
They were demanding increase in their payment to Rs. 7,500 on the pattern of Kerala State, government employee status, enhancement and timely monthly salary, six hours duty, supply of special kits, adequate protection in the field, issuance of identity cards and other incentives etc.
Later, a deputation of ASHA Workers Union Jammu led by Sham Parsad Kesar, Senior CITU leader met Divisional Commissioner Jammu and submitted a memorandum of demands to him for early redressal.
The deputation comprised of Sunita Bhagat, Kanta Devi, Anita, Anuradha, Bimla, Gita and Rita.
