DODA: Nisar Ahmed of Gundu, Udhampur defeated Rajesh Kumar of Kathua and won Wrestling Competition organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, Delta Force at Sports Stadium Doda on Monday.
The winner wrestler was awarded with the cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy while runner up got Rs 4,000 award.
A total of 36 wrestlers from all over Doda District participated in the competition. Cash-cum-consolation prizes were also presented to all the participants.
In the ceremony, SSP Doda, SHO Doda, Chief Planning Officer Doda, Principal Government Degree College, Principal Boys Higher Secondary School, Deputy Commandant CRPF and officials of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, Doda were present.
“The competition was organised to promote wrestling as a sport in the remote region of Doda District,” Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta, said adding that troops of Delta Force provided all essential administrative support to organise the competition.
