National security should not be politicised but when it comes to vote bank the situation is just opposite. All the governments have been adopting this path. A statement of such importance coming from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari last year holds some waters as the national security is at stake by “appeasement” of terrorists and terrorist organizations which was happening for vote-bank politics. On the question of country’s security, there is no scope for politics. We have to fight terrorism collectively and globally; even Muslim countries are fighting against terrorism…specially Pakistan, which after being defeated in the past three wars started a proxy war to destabilise our unity, he had said at that time. The very philosophy of ‘Sabka ka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ has seen a nose dive with opposition taking ruling combination. Unfortunately, even an institution like Parliament too has been caught in the vortex of allegations. However, today situation is such that for sake of vote bank politics, appeasement of terrorist and terrorist organisation continues. Appeasement policy has not gone much ahead as far as terrorist organization and sympathising population whether they are in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Manipur or Jharkhand. The move has not been able to get the much expected dividends for the governments of the day and ultimately had gone for hard options. As far Jammu and Kashmir is concerned the healing touch or the appeasing policy too has not got the expected returns. Had the reality been there the menace of terrorism would have been over by now. But the ground reality is different especially when the government is trying to win over the youth who had picked up guns against the nation and feel ashamed of carrying national flag, feel proud to carry Pakistani or ISIS flags. Political negotiation is the recommended and preferred method of coping with terrorism in the late 20th century. And the terrorists in no way have been inhibited or deterred by the relevant peace processes. On the contrary, they have been stimulated into fresh atrocities.
