An appeal from distance mode degree holders

Dear Editor,
It is in reference to Government Order No:66-Edu of 2017, Dated:16th February 2017 regarding degrees obtained through Distance Mode and also in reference to Director School Education Jammu’s Orders No : 137-DSEJ Of 2017, Dated : 28th February 2017 regarding Adjustment of 368 Master Grade promotes and discriminately ignoring 572 Master Grade promotes who have acquired their degrees through distance mode from various universities. How unfortunate it is that two candidates who passed their degrees from a same university in a same session by attempting same question papers are treated with different yardsticks by Education Department. Although those who passed their degrees during the service had gone through various formalities which included acquiring of enrollment and post facto permissions from department, deduction of their salaries for leave period but inspite of all that today they are helpless against this unlawful order of Education Department. This Order No 66 of Education Department clearly shows the dual standard adopted by concerned authorities in the process of verifying the validity of degrees.
All the respected members of teaching community who acquired their degrees through distance mode from the universities like Jammu University, Kashmir University, IGNOU or any other university for which Education Department had given enrollment/post-facto permissions, are now completely in shock and helpless against this discriminatory attitude of government .This order is not only a discriminatory one but it is also an attack and insult to the reputation and credibility of aforesaid universities along with a deliberate effort to harass the thousands of highly educated innocent teachers. Further this baseless autocratic order of Education Department is not only controversial but also an attempt to divide the entire teaching community in the shadow of regular Vs distance mode degree issue, even a laymen knows that initially same was tried through ReT vs general line screening controversy which yield not results and in desperation this is again an arbitral and autocratic attempt of Govt to divide teaching community. It is not first time that such an act of murdering the sentiments of teachers was committed by Education Department, in fact School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has become a center of controversies and protests instead of being a center of academic excellence in past two years due to discriminatory approach and misleading orders issued by the authorities on the helm of the affairs and Order No 66 of Education Department is yet an other episode of this process. With implementation of this order the thousands of helpless teachers, masters and lecturers are forced to utilise their energies and resources on the roads and streets against their own department instead of being using the same in the classrooms for the betterments of students. There is no fact of denying that government itself is responsible for creating such an atmosphere of protests, agitations and unrest by molesting the dignity of so called novel profession of teaching by slapping such an ugly order on face of thousands of innocent members of teaching community whose only crime is …”that During their services in the department they have upgraded and enhanced their Educational and professional skill through distance mode that too in a proper channel after having fulfilled all the modalities fixed by Education Department”. In nutshell it is my humble request with Education Minister who has very recently taken over the command of Education Department in the State for his timely intervention in this regard to roll back this nasty and anti-teachers, anti-department and above all anti-students order No 66 of Education Department as early as possible in order to avoid any loss of precious time, resources and faith of both teachers and department.
