Apex Body on 6th Schedule for Ladakh to hold high-level talk with Home Ministry

LEH: ‘Apex Body’ of the People’s Movement for 6th Schedule for Ladakh is all set for the second round of talks with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, in New Delhi in the first week of January 2021.
Veteran leader and former Member Parliament Thupstan Chhewang, an important member of the Apex, has got telephone calls from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the meeting. In view of the upcoming meeting with the Home Minister, a crucial meeting of veteran leaders was held Wednesday and it was decided that a joint delegation from the twin districts of Leh and Kargil comprising not more than 17 members will be flying to New Delhi on 3rd January for the high level talk regarding constitutional safeguards for Ladakh under Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
“The ‘Apex Body’ is fully prepared now to table before the Home Minister, Ladakh’s single pointed demand of ‘6th schedule’ status.
The spirit of the demand is further reinforced by the unanimity shown by the entire public representatives of the grassroots level democratic institutions, socio-religious organizations and political parties in the conference held on 29th December 2020,” an official released issued by Apex Spokesperson said.
On 29th Apex Body’ of the People’s Movement for 6th Schedule for Ladakh held a daylong conference on the importance of Sixth Schedule for Ladakh which was attended by all religious and political leaders, CEC LAHDC Leh Tashi Gyalson, Dy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Tsering Angchok, former MP Thupstan Chhewang, former Minister Chering Dorjay, Social Activist and innovator Sonam Wangchuk, Executive Councillors, Panchayat Raj Institution representatives, NGO representatives and people from different talks of life.
