JAMMU: A volunteer social group ‘Pir Panjal Youth Parliament’ which is based on socio-economic peace and developmental activities, on Sunday organised a seminar at Pahari Boys Hostel Jammu under its Anti Drugs Campaign 2017.
The programme was presided over by Dr Zakir Hussain, Secretary Pahari Advisory Board J&K and Alyas Ahmed Khan, Excise Taxation Officer was the Chief Guest.
President Pir Panjal Youth Parliament, Sayed Waseem Ul Hassan in his welcome address highlighted the role of Pir Panjal Youth Parliament activities and briefed upon the future objectives of this Anti-drugs Campaign 2017 which is going to be spread in all the area of Jammu Division.
Alyas Ahmed Khan said that the teenagers need to understand the fact that indulging into the habit of drug addiction not only destroys their mind and body but also destroys their bright future. There are several factors such as rapid urbanisation and industrialisation which have given rise to a new kind of attitude of permissiveness and individualism among the people today, he added. He appealed to the PPYP to spread this campaign across the State.
Dr Zakir Hussain while speaking on the occasion said that it is an understood fact that drug addiction is destroying the roots of development of an individual and the nation as a whole and several measures need to be adopted to control this destructive habit among the addicts.
Warden Pahari Hostel Jammu, Ch Istabas said that drug addiction has emerged as one of the major social problem in most of the developed and developing countries and undoubtedly proves to be a major hindrance in the proper growth and development of the an individual, society, nation and the world as a whole.
PPYP Managing Director, Hamid Hashmi appealed to the students of the hostel to support this anti drugs campaign and forward it to every door. Zaheer Abbas Khan, Sajid Hussain Shah, Qazi Abrar, Mudasar Choudhary, Manan Haider, Rajab Mehhraj and Sadaqat Hussain also expressed their views on the occasion.
Later, certificates of participation were also distributed among the students.
Among those who spoke on the occasion include Zeshan Hyder, Shoket Hussain, Sajid Naqvi, Zaheer Ahmed, Mukhtar Ahmed, Sayed Nissar Ali, Waheed Ahmed, Sayed Raheel, Ahmed Raza, Shahnawaz Khaki and Arslan Malik.
