ANTF arrests hardcore drug supplier from Valley

JAMMU: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking and drug abuse from gross root level under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) Jammu has conducted raids at multiple locations in Kashmir Valley and arrested one of the hardcore narcotics drug suppliers from Ichgam in Budgam district.
“The arrested person is a notorious Kingpin/ Supplier who was wanted in Case FIR 15/2022 under Sections 8/15/20/25/29 NDPS Act 201 IPC of Police Station ANTF Jammu and is the main supplier of narcotics and psychotropic drugs which are being smuggled from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab and other states of northern India,” SSP ANTF Vinay Sharma said adding that arrested person was operating from Kashmir Valley.
In connection with the investigation of the case, Vinay Sharma, a team of ANTF was constituted under his supervision and was led by Inspector Amandeep Singh under guidance of Shamsher Singh DySP ANTF Jammu conducted series of raids in Kashmir Valley and finally with the help of Budgam police zeroed in and arrested one of the most wanted Drug suppliers.
“The Drug supplier was identified as Nisar Ahmed Rather, son of Mohd Qasim Rather, resident of Ichgam District Budgam, Kashmir,” Vinay said adding that Nisar was wanted in multiple cases of ANTF.
Nisar used to supply commercial quantity of Poppy Straw from Kashmir Valley to Punjab and other states of northern India and he was associate of another drug dealer of Punjab Surinder Pal and his other associates who used to collect the consignments and sell it to the local youth of the area to earn huge illegal money, Vinay said adding that the Punjab based main receiver namely Surinder Pal is already arrested.
With the arrest of these main notorious drug dealers, SSP Vinay said, ANTF Jammu has been able to break the nexus of Narcotics and Psychotropic drugs suppliers and receivers from Kashmir valley to Punjab.
This has been hailed as a major success by ANTF the specialised force of JKP to tackle the menace of Drugs.
SSP ANTF J&K Vinay Sharma appealed the general public particularly the youth to stay away from drugs and to share any kind of information regarding drug related activities with ANTF so that strict legal actions are taken against such drug dealers.
The identity of the informant as well as whistle-blower shall be kept confidential. Persons found in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
The community participation in fight against drug abuse can serve the purpose of complete eradication of the menace of drugs from our society, he added.
