Ansari directs for expediting construction of stadia

JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari on Friday directed the concerned authorities to expedite the construction work of various stadiums in Jammu division. The Minister issued these instructions while taking stock of sports infrastructure and status of work of sports stadiums under construction in Jammu division. The Minister enquired about the status of stadiums in Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri among others in the division and impressed upon the concerned authorities to speed up the work for immediate completion. Giving details regarding the construction works of Indoor Stadium Jammu being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore, the minister was apprised that the stadium, on completion, will house multipurpose hall of 44x29m size, fencing hall, two indoor games halls, VIP room, office building, meeting room, separate male and female washrooms besides judo and karate hall. The Minister reviewed the status of the Filter- Bobbin featured swimming pool of 1947.42 Kilolitres capacity with 2.45 meters depth being constructed at M A Stadium Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs 2.03 crore. The Minister also took stock of upgradation and installation of Civil and Electro Mechanical works for re-commissioning of existing swimming pool, construction of pavilion at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 17.7 crore, construction works at Indoor Stadium near Boys Higher Secondary School at Akhnoor (Rs 1.35 crore) and Indoor Hall at S Bana Singh Stadium, R S Pura (Rs 68.50 lakh), construction works at Indoor Stadium at Udhampur (Rs 1.35 crore) and pavilion at Sports Stadium Reasi (Rs 1.33 crore), upgradation works at Sports Stadium Poonch and Sports Stadium Rajouri under Prime Minister’s special package at an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore.
