JAMMU: A large number of Anganwadi workers, helpers and supervisors on Thursday held a protest at Exhibition Ground here against authorities. The protesters demanded regularisation of supervisors, helpers who have been drawing salary for the past 20 years.
“We have repeatedly asked the government about our concerns, however, they didn’t pay heed to our demands,” the protestors said.
The protesters also demanded increase in the wages of workers. “It is difficult for us to survive due to low salary when the inflation in market is high. Our children are suffering,” they added.
While addressing the workers senior leader Lakshman Ravinder Singh, President Subash Verma, Ashok Choudhary General Secretary of BMS, Swarna Choudhary President and Neelam Sharma General Secretary of Association criticised the government for anti workers attitude towards low paid workers as they are struggling since a long period for their genuine demands. The speakers reminded the government that Social Welfare Deptt is pressurising workers for six hours duty with very low honorium and number of duties.
Koushalya Devi, Kamlesh Kumari, Chint Purni, Veena Devi, Persino Devi, Jyoti Devi, Nirmal, Soma Devi, Anju Devi, Sushma Devi and others also addressed the workers.
