Alert! Kashmir Unrest-II may force Valley population to migrate, settle in Jammu

 Special Correspondent
Jammu: Amidst apprehensions of revival of Kashmir Unrest with shifting of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP Government to the Summer Capital, the Valley population may migrate and settle in the Winter Capital to prevent calendars of ‘hartals’ to be issued by bunch of fundamentalists playing spoilsport and disrupting the peace.
“The Kashmir Unrest is not over. It has gone silent with harsh winter season besides Darbar Move,” intelligence sources here said.
They said that the population in the Kashmir Valley in 2016 has already suffered a lot due to historic shutdown witnessed ever by the state and to prevent themselves falling prey to fresh ‘diktats’, the local populace from the Valley may migrate to Jammu to live a normal life.
“Shifting some percentage of population from the Kashmir Valley to Jammu suspecting fresh turmoil cannot be ruled out,” sources said adding that those living on rented accommodations during Darbar Move, have already kept the housings and lodgings reserved.
Pertinently Kashmir Unrest 2016, claimed around 100 lives and left thousands injured including the civilians and the security forces.
Sources however, said that some of the Kashmir based residents have also got their wards admitted in schools and colleges so that their education does not suffer, if Valley witnesses unrest after the Darbar Move.
“Many schools and colleges in the town have got fresh admissions despite more than 50 percent of the session has been completed,” they said.
Nearly 35 percent of the youth from Kashmir is pursuing studies in the Winter Capital either in coaching centres, professional colleges or the higher educational institutions apart from those having professional guidance to appear in various entrance examinations to be held in March-April across the country.
“Fed up of regular strike calendars issued by the separatists and affected business, trade, Kashmiris this time have planned a strategy to meet the  losses they have suffered last year,” sources asserted.
Sources further said that the police vis-a-vis intelligence and security agencies are on alert and closely monitoring the situation because Jammu will surely have an ‘impact’ if this year Kashmir witnesses another unrest, which is likely on cards as nerves have not cooled down and after the killing of self styled Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani, around 100 youth have also reportedly joined various terrorist outfits to disrupt peace and normalcy.
“The Separatists have also chalked out strategies to bring unrest back on streets and misled young minds for their personal gains,” sources added.
Due to five-month long Kashmir unrest last year, state suffered losses to the tune of over Rs 16,000 crore due to complete halt of economic activity coupled with loss of property worth crores of rupees.
However, official figures said that the number of tourists who visited the Valley in 2015-16 stood at 6,23,932 including 2,20,490 Amarnath yatris.
As the tourist arrivals to Kashmir have trickled down drastically in the wake of unrest last year, the local tourism industry is believed to have suffered a massive Rs 4,000 crore loss.
