Akhnoor people calls on Jugal, seek help

AKHNOOR: To brief BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma, their Member of Parliament, about the sufferings and the losses of the people in Akhnoor and elsewhere, a group of prominent public activists from Sangrampur, Chanjwa, Bakore, Garhi, Setreyal, Muthi Mera, Devipur, Samah Nallah, Bomal, Kot Garhi, called on him at party Hqrs on Wednesday. They gave details of the enormous losses suffered during recent rains and flash floods in their respective areas.
These people said that as their areas are situated adjacent and near the banks of river Chenab these resultantly got badly hit and they ahev lost everything and now have no means of sustenance. They demanded that their losses should be assessed at the earliest and in the mean time adequate relief should be provided.
Giving a patient hearing to these people, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the party is fully seized of their sufferings and plight due to the flood related destruction, not only of their areas but of all the different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and he being elected MP from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency is more concerned for the people and the areas of his constituency. He said that it is matter of satisfaction that since day one the Union Government came into action and took lead in reaching the affected areas and pressing all the means for this.
The immediate visit of Prime Minister and other Union Ministers, besides deputing high level teams of different central agencies to the State are the testimony of the fact that while the Omar Abdullah led government was in deep slumber and nowhere on the scene for days together the Union Government swung into action without any loss of time and delay.
Jugal Kishore Sharma added that the party does not want to take credit or indulge in blame game of negligence but at this juncture it is our sincere effort to adopt a humane approach and do whatever is possible in order to reach maximum people in all the affected areas and provide them succour. He said that the exact losses should be assessed at the earliest and in the meanwhile the government needs to gear up its agencies and engage them on war footing in relief operations utilizing all the available infrastructure and the machinery.
Expressing gratitude to the Narendra Modi led government for ensuring extension of every kind of assistance for the affected people, Jugal Kishore Sharma stressed on the State Government to direct its field agencies to not work selectively to please leaders of NC and Congress but treat each affected family equally in matters of distribution of relief material and rehabilitation efforts.
Ex-Sarpanch Rattan Singh, Jagdish Kumar Bakshi, Raj Singh Chib, Vijay Kumar Thapa, Puran Sharma, Bishan Dass and Ram Rattan were among those who called on the MP in presence of BJP State Spokespersons Balbir Ram Rattan and Suresh Ajay Magotra and State Office Secretary Naresh Dogra.
