Inter-Zone competitions of District Jammu

JAMMU: Boys teams from Zone Akhnoor and Jourian bagged the title trophies of under-17 and under-14 age groups respectively in the annual inter-zone competitions of district Jammu, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, near here on Monday.
In the under-17 title clash, Akhnoor trounced their counterparts from Zone Jourian while for the under-14 title, Jourian Zone trounced Zone Gandhi Nagar. Finals in other three sports disciplines of Kabaddi, Chess and Kho-Kho also took place at the same venue.
In the finals and valedictory of today’s events, Deputy Director DYSS, Jitender Mishra was Chief Guest, who presented the title trophies in the presence of district (DYSS) officer Jammu, Sunil Kumar.
Other (Final) Results: KABADDI: Under-17: Zone Dansal beat Zone Khour. Under-14: Zone Miran Sahib beat Zone Khour. KHO-KHO: Under-14: Zone R S Pura beat Zone Miran Sahib. Under-17: Zone R S Pura beat Zone Khour. CHESS: Under-14: Zone Gandhi Nagar beat Zone Jammu. Under-17: Zone Bhalwal beat Zone Miran Sahib.
Meanwhile, in the inter-zone cricket tournament of under-14 boys, Satwari Zone on Monday qualified for the final. In the semifinal, decided today, Satwari defeated Zone Gandhi Nagar by six wickets at Government High School Jammu Cantt grounds.
Earlier, batting first, Gandhi Nagar ade 124 runs for five wickets, which, in reply, Satwari boys chased losing four wickets. Dhanjay played atch winning knock of 56 runs.
