JAMMU: Akhilesh shall be playing against Karmanya in the title clash of the Cadet boys’ singles event in the 38th State Table Tennis Championship underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played on Thursday, Akhilesh defeated Rohan Langar in straight sets while Karmanya trounced Tejas 2-1. Meanwhile, semifinals position has been cleared in the Sub-Junior boys’ category with Hanumant, Anuj Dutta, Saksham and Manya reaching the last four stages of the competition.
In quarterfinals, played today, Hanumant beat Harshit Rohmetra 3-1 while Anuj outplayed Akhilesh 3-2. In other last eight stages competition, Saksham downed Mohd Shukla 3-0 and Manya beat Sudhiksham 3-0.
In men’s singles opening round, Vasu Dewan, Shorya Sharma, Ketan and Dheeraj Arora won their respective matches.
The Results: Vasu Dewan beat Kashi Kalim 3-0; Shorya Sharma beat Irfan 3-0, Ketan beat Aquib 3-0 and Dheeraj Arora defeated Amir 3-0.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Narinder Kour, Sandeep Khadotra and Meenu Rajesh.
