Ajit Club wins opening hockey tie

JAMMU: Ajit Club Gole Gujral won the opening match of the First Mahant Bachiter Singh Hockey Tournament, organised by Mahant Bachiter Singh Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at Simbal Camp, here on Sunday.

Ajit Club defeated Power House Poonch 2-1. Though Power House Poonch netted the first goal through Talwinder Singh in the 32 minute, yet they lost the well contested game. For Ajit Club, Bhupinder Singh (36th) and Jagjit Singh (52nd) were the scorers.

The opening match was officiated by the technical panel comprising Jagjit Singh, Daljit Singh, Joginder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and G.S Bakshi.

Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nagali Sahib Poonch, who was Chief Guest. Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters, Randhir Singh was Guest of Honour.

Sarpanch, Rajinder Singh and Organising Secretary, Jaspreet Singh were among others present. Gatka demonstration enthralled the gathering at the venue.
