AJCSF expresses concern on violence in Valley

JAMMU: In the true spirit of democracy, the members of the All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) took out a peaceful rally upto Raj Bhawan to register their concern about the violence and chaos let loose in Kashmir Valley.
Led by its Convener AJCSF, Gulchain Singh Charak and Co-Convener Abdul Majid, the rally was joined by the heads of various social, trade and religious organisations besides, large number of prominent citizens of Jammu province.
The members were concerned over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Valley and the continued shut down, which has direct impact on the Jammu traders, transporters, hoteliers and others connected with the pilgrimage, tourism industry in one way or the other affecting the economy of the entire State. They also said that government offices in the Civil Secretariat Srinagar are non-functional and efforts will be made to ensure proper functioning at Jammu as an interim measure.
Carrying banners with slogans of peace, unity and expressing total solidarity and unity among all sections of society and the population from all ethnic groups of this region, they resolved to maintain their mutual love, respect and brotherhood at all costs.
Without disturbing public life the silent marchers went to Raj Bhawan where they sat on a Dharna and finally presented a memorandum of demands. Besides the assurance of peaceful mutual solidarity in all parts of Jammu region, it stressed for a permanent peaceful resolution of present J and K crisis, which is acceptable to all the three regions of the state.
The forum desired to build a strong, united and secular Jammu region ensuring its uniform and sustained development at all levels, better understanding amongst all the segments of society within the Jammu region so that there is complete unity and harmony in the whole Jammu region and initiation of meaningful dialogue within different units of Jammu region so as to unite and coordinate their thoughts and actions.
Forum also yearned to bring the entire social and trade organisations on single platform so that a strong voice of Jammu emerges and the losses suffered by businessmen/ traders/ transporters of Jammu region be duly compensated.
The forum also invited the civil society of Kashmir to enter in dialogue with them and work jointly for a coordinated effort to re-build sustainable normalcy and work for the development of the whole State amicably, promptly and firmly.
