JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference nominated former Minister and Senior National Conference leader Ajay Sadhotra as Additional General Secretary of the party.
An official order in this regard was signed by the party’s General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar.
Ajay Sadhotra, a senior politician has had a long and distinguished political career in Jammu and Kashmir. He was General Secretary at Youth National Conference, eight years he served as Provincial President besides serving as Vice-President, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Jammu Province.
Ajay Sadhotra was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) in 1996 and 2002, representing the Marh constituency. During his tenure as an MLA, he held ministerial portfolios, including Planning, Agriculture, CAPD (Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution), Transport, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj.
He has held leadership positions within the party, such as Deputy Leader of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Legislative Party in the J&K Legislative Assembly.
From 2003 to 2009, he served as a Provincial President, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Jammu. In 2009, Ajay Sadhotra appointed as Member of the Legislative Council and also remained as Leader of the house in Council.
Besides many national seminars, Sadhotra has attended the Food Ministers conference and the Panchayati Raj conference, chaired by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Ajay Sadhotra was also appointed as Member of Working Committee and Political Affairs Committee of Jammu and Kashmir National conference.
Ajay Sadhotra is recognised for his efficiency and dedication in redressing public issues as a Member of the Legislative Council and was awarded twice as best legislator.
This nomination as Additional General Secretary reflects the party’s recognition of Ajay Sadhotra’s contributions to both the party and the region, and it positions him as an important figure in the leadership of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference.
Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have passed on good wishes to the Ajay Sadhotra, hoping that the party will benefit from his experience in public life and social service.
