RAJOURI: A deputation of All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) on Thursday called on Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Vibodh Gupta in Rajouri and highlighted the problems and discrimination being awarded to them by the previous Coalition Government in the State.
The AIBCU deputation, which was comprised of Abdul Majid Qureshi, president, Mohd. Shabir, vice president, Mohd Rashid and Abdul Rashid both general secretaries, apprised the MLC regarding the 27 percent reservation which was already given to the Other Backward Class (OBC) in other states but contrary to this the J and K Government has given only 2 percent reservation to the community which is a grave injustice to the community.
They further informed that the previous NC-Congress government in the state in their final days increased the OBC reservation from 2 to 4 percent but till date the order was not implemented in letter and spirit.
They also put forward some demands through MLC for the State Government which includes–hostel facilities for OBC students in every district, political reservation for MLAs and MLCs in state Assembly, reservation in municipal corporation and municipal committees, scholarship- for OBC students at par with other social castes etc.
MLC listened to their problems patiently and promised them that he will took up their issues with the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
He further assured that he will take up the issue of implementing 27 percent reservation for OBC in J&K state in accordance with rest of the country with the BJP high command in the State and Centre.
