AGS Potha spearheading education in Surankote

SURANKOTE: Army Goodwill School (AGS), Potha is a renowned school and has earned its fame and laurels in Surankote town and surrounding area. The school has been managed under the aegis of HQ 6 Sect RR since Dec 2003. In the History of close to past two decades, the school has grown and evolved from a primary to higher secondary school. AGS is affiliated to J & K Board of Secondary Education up to Class X and Arts stream for class XI and XII and follows the winter session schedule. The present strength of school is 353 students. Indian Army took major steps for sponsoring the educational expenses, books & uniforms for children effected by terrorism and under BPL category. The students of school hail from areas of Potha, Surankote, Bafliaz, Gursai, Kalai and remote areas of Hill Kaka and Murrah Village.
The aim and objective of the school is to impart quality education to children effected by militancy and raise citizen who are intellectual competent, morally upright, socially acceptable and shape them into self-sacrificing citizen of the country. The School imparts structured education to children according to the latest syllabus framed by J&K Board of Education. The school has made special emphasis for upliftment of the SC/ ST and OBC students of BPL category. During the current year, online classes were also conducted by Teaching Staff due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
The school has all the important facilities in terms of infrastructure, play fields, library, labs having state of the art equipment. In the past 17 years AGS Potha has produced 479 bright and sparkling young citizens. The alumni with their success stories of the school are doing very well in their chosen fields of profession are role model for the generations next.
