JAMMU: Some pending shopkeepers under the banner of Pending Shopkeepers Association, Jagti Township, on Monday held a protest in the office of Relief and Rehabilitation Commiss-ioner, here demanding allotment of shops at Jagti Township in their favour.
Alleging that list of migrants as published by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissi-oner Vide Order No DIP/ J-11097 dated 29th March, 2016 is completely biased and faulty, they said the List has been framed without following any criteria and it seems that a pick and choose method has been adopted by the relief commissioner.
“Many of the shops allotted earlier in 2011 by the Relief Authorities are either closed till date or some shops are run by other people and not by deserve allotees,” they said adding that all the applicants could not be included in the list.
Why the shops were not allotted in an open lottery system so that complaints of corruption, nepotism and other irregularity could be avoided? they questioned.
They demanded that the shops must be allotted to the migrants, who are dependent completely on relief having none of their family members doing any kind of job, after proper investigations.
The Association warned that in case the authorities failed to allot shops to deserving migrant within the stipulated time they will be forced to take extreme step and the government will be responsible for all consequences.
