Advanced laparoscopic & oncological surgical workshop held at GMC Jammu

JAMMU: A Live advanced laparoscopic and oncological surgical workshop was held at Jammu on Sunday. All senior surgery faculty, residents and postgraduates of Department of Surgery, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu participated and deliberated and interacted in the aforesaid scientific event.
The Live advanced surgical and oncological workshop was transmitted pan India from a high volume advanced Zen Hospital Mumbai owned by Dr Roy Patankar, surgeon of National and International repute and the operating faculty was from the leading hospitals of the country.
Lot of deliberations and interaction among the faculty across the country held in the event.
Principal Dean GMC Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, while interacting with faculty, said that such advanced courses and live surgical workshop should be held more frequent to update the surgical skill of the surgical fraternity in this region so that the patient of this region are benefitted at large.
They are important to share knowledge and experiences with medical fraternity. Further he congratulated Prof head of unit Dr Zahoor Hussain and the faculty of the Surgery Department for regularly organising and attending such events.
He assured that best state of art surgical environment shall be created at GMC Jammu.
He insisted that minimal use of antibiotics be encouraged to prevent emergence of antimicrobial resistance.
Best pre and after care be provided to win the public confidence in the institution.
Prof Dr Vishal R Tandon was the invited guest in the event. He congratulated the organisers and said that Live surgeries workshops offer educational value and live surgical workshops have become very common throughout the span of the surgical field these day and there is a need to encourage research data from this region to help the health care providers to plan various strategies for the health care need of the patients.
Prof. Dr Zahoor Hussain organised and moderated the event. Dr Satish Parihar, Dr Kailash Singh, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Dr Shyam Gupta, Dr Vikrant Singh, Dr Hamid, Dr Hamza and Dr Raheel were the prominent and leading surgeons who attended the meeting and many other registrars and postgraduates attended the event.
