Ace fencer Riya Bakshi brings laurels to APS Damana

JAMMU: J and K’s Ace Fencer Riya Bakshi of Class X of Army Public School (APS) Damana brought laurels to the school by representing India in Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship held at Kingdom of Saudhi Arabia (Manama) from 24th to 29th February, 2016.
Earlier, she attended India Camp at National Institute of Sports (NIS) Patiala (Punjab) from 5th- 22nd February, 2016.
She also participated and got the National selectors’ nod after winning silver medal in the XIIth Cadet Level Championship held at Nanded in Maharashtra from 19th -22nd January, 2016.
Before getting selected for the International Fencing Championship, she participated in the School National Fencing Competition held at Bhopal from 25th-31st December, 2015.
In this International Championship, Riya Bakshi represented India at the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia, where her performance has been praiseworthy.
She has kept on pursuing her goal and won the gold medal in Under 17 Group in FOIL Event held at MA Stadium, Jammu from 18th – 20th March, 2016. She has also been felicitated by Madan Lal Sharma, Member of 14th Lok Sabha of India for her stupendous performance in Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship held at the Kingdon of Saudi Arabia (Manama).
Her selection and participation at the International Fencing event has been highly appreciated and acclaimed by the School Management. Brig B.S Bisht, Chairman APS Damana has applauded Riya Bakshi for her great achievement and has boost her morale with a token of appreciation. Dr Renu Gupta, Principal of APS Damana also commended the wonderful and remarkable achievement of Riya Bakshi.
