JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday presented charge-sheet in a case registered against Tanveer Ahmad Dar, the then Assistant Engineer BDO office Suresyar Chadoora, in a bribery case before the Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar. FIR 25/2023 was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 of Police Station ACB Srinagar on Dec 21, 2023 on a written complaint alleging therein that the accused Assistant Engineer demanded Rs 2,000 as bribe for clearing of NREGA Bills.
A trap was laid down and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 2000 as bribe from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered on spot and chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on the accused’s hands.
Based on the facts and circumstances together with cogent evidences brought on record, the investigation established the commission of offence under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the accused public servant namely Tanveer Ahmad Dar, then Assistant Engineer BDO office Suresyar Chadoora.
After obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the government, the charge-sheet was presented before the Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar, today for judicial determination. The next date of hearing has been fixed on Feb 17, 2026.
