AAP insulted Sikh community in Delhi Assembly: Chugh

STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU/NEW DELHI: National General Secretary Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tarun Chugh, on Wednesday strongly condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of showing “shameful and blasphemous disrespect” towards Guru Teg Bahadur Ji in the Delhi Assembly, thereby hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
In a statement, Tarun Chugh said that AAP had heaped the “most ignominious and unacceptable insult” on Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, describing the incident as a serious and criminal act of disrespect towards Sikh faith and traditions.
He said the issue was further exposed when Atishi herself revealed AAP’s conduct inside the Delhi Assembly, making the party’s disregard for Sikh sentiments evident before the entire nation.
“This unfortunate episode has come at a time when devotees of the Sikh Gurus are observing Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, making the insult even more painful and unacceptable for the Sikh community,” Chugh said.
The BJP leader asserted that AAP’s actions have not only hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs but have also deeply wounded the sentiments of Punjabis across the country who hold the Sikh Gurus in the highest reverence and devotion.
“AAP has demonstrated a shameful disregard for the Sikh community and for the sacred legacy of the Gurus. Such behaviour reflects the party’s true character and its insensitivity towards India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage,” Chugh added.
Chugh reiterated that the BJP stands firmly with the Sikh community and will continue to raise its voice against any act that undermines religious harmony, respect for faith, and the dignity of revered spiritual figures.
