AAP, BJP train guns; hold separate protests

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party and BJP today trained guns at each other as they engaged in vociferous protests on separate issues in the national capital inviting police action.

BJP protested outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence accusing the latter of buying “snooping” equipment for its Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) following reports in a section of the media over the same.

The charge was, however, denied by the Delhi government.

“AAP government wants to break into people’s privacy. Who gave them the right to tap the phone calls of ordinary citizens? Who gave Arvind Kejriwal permission to buy snooping equipments? We believe in freedom of expression,” the party’s state chief Satish Upadhyay said.

Police used water cannon to disperse the protesters as they tried to climb the barricades. Former EDMC Mayor Ram Narain Dubey sustained injuries during the police action and was rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile, AAP youth wing workers held a protest at Jantar Mantar over derecognition of a student group at IIT Madras holding the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry responsible for the move.

AAP leader Ashutosh wondered whether students from Dalit community don’t have a right to express their views on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
