LEH: To promote digital ways and cashless transactions, J&K Bank Leh on the occasion of two-day Mela Dosmoche opened special counters in Leh to enable citizens to register their Aadhaar and mobile numbers with their bank accounts.
“As transactions will be mostly in digital and cashless in future, we are facilitating public to register their Aadhaar and mobile numbers with bank account numbers and at the same time we are also distributing ATM cards to those already not having them,” Branch Manager, J&K Bank Leh Tsewang Dorjai told STATE TIMES while talking about the purpose of putting up special counters on this
occasion.
Referring to a circular issued in this regard by Reserve Bank of India, he informed that those not having PAN cards need to fill up ‘Form 60’ to aviod de-activating of withdrawal from their accounts.
In places like Ladakh PAN card holders are only few but according to bank officials PAN cards are going to be made compulsory for everyone in future. Digital ways in Leh has been badly affected by the collapse of Internet for a month now. Banks in Leh, however, have not been affected as they have their own independent V-Sat
satellites.
