SRINAGAR: A nine-year-old boy was found dead in mysterious circumstances at his house in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District, police said on Wednesday .
The body of Sahfaqat Ahmad Dar was found hanging in his room last evening in Gadoora village of the district, a police spokesman said.
A case has been registered and investigations are underway to ascertain the reason behind the boy’s death, spokesman said without divulging further details.
The body was handed over to the family of the boy after completion of necessary formalities, he added.
Meanwhile, a teenage boy was drowned in a stream in Kupwara District, while a decomposed body was fished out from river Jhelum here, police said.
Hilal Ahamd Najar (16), a resident of Drugmulla village, drowned in Pohroo stream while taking bath, a police spokesman said.
He said the body of deceased was retrieved from the ‘Nallah’ and handed over to his relatives for last rites.
A decomposed body identified as that of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat of Khanyar was recovered from river Jhelum near old Zainakadal in downtown Srinagar last night, the spokesman said.
Police has initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of Bhat’s death, he said adding his body was handed over to his relatives for the last rites.
