SRINAGAR: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar on Tuesday felicitated the students from Jammu and Kashmir who were awarded gold medals at the sixth convocation of Moulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Hyderabad.
The Education Minister congratulated the gold medal recipient students from J and K including Fowzia Afaq, Zahoor Hussain Bhat, Ulfat Ara, Zahoor Ahmad Sofi from Mass Communication and Journalism Department of MANNU, Raheel Ahmad Trag from English Department, Arif Ahmad Bhat from Mathematics Department, Barkat Hussain Para from Education Department, Akhtar Hussain Shah from Persian Department and Khalil Ahmad from Political Science Department. Akhtar hoped that other students from J and K will draw inspiration from their talented counterparts and bring laurels to the State. “It is heartening to note that despite facing various constraints, the young boys and girls from J and K are coming out with shining colours in academics, sports and prestigious competitive examinations like IAS, IFS, IPS, JEE etc,” he said and added that the new initiatives being taken by the government in education sector are going to expand the horizon of opportunities for the local youth.
Open cycling championship -2016
Akbar Khan, Rubab Ali wins respective titles

SRINAGAR: With the aim to boost the cycling talent among the youth, Budgam Police on Tuesday organised an open cycling championship-2016 under Civic Action Programme for boys and girls in Budgam.
About 45 boys and girl participants took part in the championship. The race was flagged off by SSP Budgam Waheed Ahmad Shah. From the male category Akbar Khan bagged first position, Aadil Ahmad Teli second and Waheed Ahmad bagged third position. From the female, Rubab Ali, Insha Wadoo and Gowhara Zeha got first, second and third positions respectively.
