GULMARG: Over 80 students passed out in the 14-day second ski course at IISM Gulmarg.
The students were from various parts of the country including many students from the Delhi Public School (DPS).
Maj Gen Nawnit Kumar Commandant HAWS was the Chief Guest who gave away prizes to the winners of the different skiing events during the course.
Arun Srivastava, Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and Col Bharat Bhusan OIC Winter Games Node of Army were the Guests of Honour during the
ceremony.
J.S Dhillon, Principal, IISM said institute develops different adventure skills in the citizens who in turn become ambassadors of adventure tourism in the country.
“In addition to skiing skill the students also develop in them those traits of personality which are not possible in the protected environments of schools and colleges” he said adding that institute provides an excellent training and administration in a centrally heated modern building one of its kinds in the whole nation. IISM trains more than 500 students in skiing skills every year, he disclosed.
Gen Nawnit congratulated the successful students and told them that skill developed by them will become an integral part of their life.
He asked the students to motivate their peers to join such courses which will develop their personality.
Arun Srivastava also complimented the students for successful completion of their course.
He said IISM was not only training students in skiing but is an ideal place of national integration where students from north to south and east to west train, eat, sing and joke together making lifelong friendship with each other.
Bazila, one of the students of this ski course, said that she was very lucky to be student of IISM which has transformed her life and given her enough confidence to face any challenge in her life.
She hoped that IISM will soon start its summer adventure courses which she and her friend’s want
to attend. Principal assured her that Ministry
of Tourism will start all courses of the institute in summers.
