RAJOURI/UDHAMPUR: District Administration, Rajouri held programmes to reconstitute the Village Education Committees (VECs) in about 400 schools covering almost every village across the district Rajouri.
Whereas on the directions of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, 364 Village Education Committees have been reconstituted in district Udhampur with the active participation of Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, Zonal Education Officers, Headmasters, Patwaris, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Anganwari workers and parents of the respective school children.
People of the area welcomed the initiative of district administration Udhampur and showed keen interest in the process.
About 364 VECs have been constituted in 11 zones of Udhampur District with head master as chairperson, Patwaris, Anganwari workers, Panchayat members and parents of the students as members of the committee.
Meanwhile, with an aim to promote the participatory ‘bottom up’ approach in monitoring schools and with the goal of ‘educating all’ the Village Education Committees(VEC) were re- constituted across the Doda District in the functions organised across the district .
At the District Headquarters Deputy Commissioner Doda presided over the function organised at Town Hall Doda and said that VEC functions as a part of the social system , community ownership and helps the retention of children in the school.
It also emphasises on giving pre-eminence to people’s involvement, including association of non-governmental agencies and voluntary efforts, inducting more women in the planning and management of education, he added.
