JAMMU: Scripting a 30 runs win over Vishal Tigers XI, Jammu Rising Stars lifted the title trophy of the 7-Matches New Year Series T20 at Parade Ground here on Sunday.
The 7-matches series for junior cricketers was organised by Vishal Cricket Club Jammu under the supervision of Rajesh Gill former Ranji player.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Jammu Rising Stars managed to score a good total of 128 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets. Abhay Tondon (34), Danish (25) and Shehzad (21) runs were the main scorers. For Vishal Tigers XI, Adhishwer and Praful Dhar scalped two wickets each.
In reply, Vishal Tigers could not chase the target in 20 overs and made only 98 runs losing eight wickets in the process, thus lost the match by 30 runs. Akshit was the top scorer with 20 runs while Sachin Sharma and Kannav contributed 13 and 11 runs respectfully.
For Jammu Rising Stars, Abhay Tondon bagged three wickets, Ashim took two and while Laith and Jugjab shared apiece. Abhay Tondon was declared Man of the Match while Sachin Sharma was adjudged Best Batsman of the Tournament, Abhay Tondon was named as Best Bowler and Praful Dhar was adjudged Man of the Series. In the valedictory function, Member, State Human Rights Commission, Jung Bahadur was Chief Guest while SSP, R.K Bhat was the Guest of Honour.
The Chief Guest distributed the trophies to the winner and runner up teams in presence of R.K Bhat, Vivek Shekher, Vijay Saberwal and Rajesh Gill.
Jung Bahadur announced that more events will be organised for the budding cricketers after the final exams of the players. He further said that he feel happy to watch the little cricketers of the state by showing great cricketing skills. The final match was officiated by Shugul, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod. The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Rajesh Dhar.
