Street Warriors XI wins inaugural tie
JAMMU: Street Warriors XI won the opening match of the Sixth Pawan Memorial Twenty20 Tournament, organised by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here on Sunday.
Street Warriors registered a two wickets win against Friends Cricket Club to qualify for the next round of quarterfinals.
Earlier, batting first, Friends Club set a target of 125 runs losing all their wickets in 20 overs. Amit Singh played fine innings of 40 runs coming off just 13 deliveries. Aman and Jimmy Magotra contributed 13 runs each. For Street Warriors, Amit Singh, Aman and Ubey were most successful bowlers with two wickets each while Amit Sharma took one.
Dilawar Singh (38 off 23 balls) and Rohit Sharma (23 off 19 balls) were the main scorers. Deep Sharma remained unbeaten with 17-ball 22 runs. Anil Kumar bowled brilliant spell taking away four wickets while Vipin took two. Arun Singh and Amit Singh shared apiece each.
For his superb innings of 28 runs, Dilawar was named Man of the Match.
Minister for PHE, Sham Lal Sharma was Chief Guest, who declared open the tournament in a well attended function. Prominent among others present were B.N Abrol, K.C Bhagat, Aman Gupta and P.P Gupta.
Earlier, the distinguished gathering was welcomed by the Organising Secretary of the Tournament, Sham Singh Langeh. He informed the gathering that 16 top teams of Jammu Province are taking part in this knock-out competition.
