66th Poonch Link-Up Day celebrated

POONCH: The 66th Poonch Link-Up Day was celebrated by the people of Poonch along with Poonch Brigade with characteristic gaiety and fervour on Saturday. The celebrations commemorated the historic link up carried out by Brig Pritam Singh’s forces and forces from Rajouri at Danna Ka Pir on 21st Nov 1948.
The celebrations were graced by Army Commander, Northern Command, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division along with M.H Malik, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch and J.P Johar, SSP Poonch besides prominent citizens and a large gathering of people of Poonch which included many school children.
The celebrations started with the wreath laying ceremony at Naman Sthal, the War Memorial. Army Commander, Northern Command, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, GOC Ace of Spades Division, Commander, Poonch Brigade, M.H Malik, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch and J.P Johar, SSP, Poonch and Ex- Servicemen laid wreaths and remembered the supreme sacrifice made by the soldiers defending Poonch.
Later in the day, various adventures activities such as para motor display, display of horsemanship skills of Army Riders, display of their skills by dogs of the Army Dog Unit and the aerial display by team of Special Forces, who made an entry underslung a helicopter carrying Ace of Spades Division Flag and also demonstrated slithering technique, thrilled the people of Poonch who had gathered in large numbers to participate in the celebrations.
