JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir to meet Gujarat in semi-final of the Kalinga Trophy (Level II) in the ongoing 65th Senior National Basketball Championship being held at Sukhadia Indoor Stadium, Bhilwara, Rajasthan on Saturday.
Earlier, in a quarter-final match played on Friday, Jammu and Kashmir beat Madhya Pradesh by 11 points.
As per the reports reaching here, Sumit Kumar played a key role in J and K win contributing highest 24 points while Iqbal, Shubham Sharma and Salinder Singh contributed 15, 14 and eight points respectively. J and K defeated Madhya Pradesh 61-50 with half time score being 34-25.
The championship is being organized by the Basketball Federation of India and supported by IMG-Reliance.
In all 51 teams including 27 men and 24 women are participating in the country’s top most competition played on league–cum–knock-out basis. The winner will take home Rs one lakh cash prize while the runners-up will receive Rs 75,000.
