6 players from J&K to witness Chess Olympiad

JAMMU: As many as six young players (boys and girls) shall witness the historic 44th Chess Olympiad being hosted by India for the first time at Southern city of Chennai, next month. And to pick up genuine talent and promising boys and girls, All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) in collaboration with IDPS school, Sunjwan invites players of Jammu Division schools for “AICF J&K U-15 selection event for school Boys and Girls”. “The countrywide progamme of ‘event witness’, supported by AICF and Government of Tamil Nadu, shall take place at IDPS School Sunjwan in Jammu outskirts from June 24 at 9 am. The nine-round time control event (Time control- 25 min+ 10 sec increment) shall conclude on June 25,” informed president of the AJKCA, Atul Kumar Gupta. The entry must be confirmed only via WhatsApp message (9906010563) and those selected boys and girls shall get the opportunity to witness 187 countries participating in one of the world’s greatest sports event. From Jammu Division, out of three free entries, top boy and two top girls (one girl from government school) will be selected. Must be born on or after anuary one, 2007, selected players shall get free boarding and lodging in addition to Rs.3000 support towards Travelling. However, the players taking part in the selection event must be registered with AICF for calendar year 2022-23 and those selected shall get free training by Grandmasters at Chennai.
