6 killed, over 50 injured in Pakistan road accidents

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 6 : At least six people were killed and over 50 others injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan on Thursday, local Urdu TV channel ARY said.

Two paramilitary troops were killed and 25 others injured when their two vehicles and a car hit into each other in Peshawar, the capital city of the country’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Police said the troops were on their way to Swat district from Peshawar when their vehicles met the accident.

Cause of the accident has not been determined yet.

The injured troops have been shifted to be a nearby hospital.

In an earlier accident in the country’s eastern Lahore city, four people were killed and 28 others injured when two passenger vans collided with each other on Motorway.

The passengers were going to attend a religious sermon from Peshawar to Lahore when the accident occurred.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the injured passengers to Lahore’s Mayo Hospital and Jinnah Hospital.

Police said one of the vans lost its control due to over- speeding and collided with the other van coming from the opposite direction.(AGENCIES)
