JAMMU: The 5th J&K UT Yoga Sports Championship 2024, organized by the Yoga Association Jammu & Kashmir under the aegis of the J&K Olympic Association, concluded at the Brahma Kumari’s Om Shanti Meditation Centre, here on Sunday.
The championship saw participation from boys and girls across various districts of the UT. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, an exponent of SARAL Yoga and President of the J&K Olympic Association, who performed a candle lighting ceremony with the Brahma Kumaris. Rajyogini B.K. Sudarshan Didi, Patron-in-Chief of the Yoga Association, served as the Chief Guest, while B.K. Ravinder Bali was the Guest of Honour. They presented mementos, medals, and certificates to the winners in the presence of Ashwani Katoch, Rajinder Kumar, Sonia Sharma, Sabita Sharma, Veena Chib, Sunita Raina, and Anushka Kaul.
Earlier, Vinod K. Bhatia, Secretary General of the Yoga Association, welcomed the Chief Guest and provided a brief overview of the association’s activities.
The J&K UT Yoga team is set to participate in the 49th Sub-Junior and Junior National Yoga Sports Championship in Una (HP), he said.
The championship was officiated by national referees and judges from the Yoga Federation, including Dayal Ram, Mukesh Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Bandral, and Aryaaveer Singh.
B.K. Ravinder Bali commended Akhil Kapahi, President of the Yoga Association Jammu & Kashmir, for his efforts in promoting yoga among youth.
